Let's break it down

Whether you're an independent author, narrator, small publisher (or any combination of those), Audiobook Empire's Audio Outlet is your storefront for selling your audiobooks directly to listeners. Typically, the retail site takes their cut of the royalties first, followed by the distribution platform, and then you get whatever's left. Or half of whatever's left, if you agreed to share royalties with another party, like a narrator.

Some savvy independent creators install a storefront on their own website and we commend this! Way to take charge! But if you don't have the time, energy, or tech skills to make your own storefront, you're welcome to start selling on ours. You can then send potential listeners to your page on our storefront and encourage them to buy from there. We won't take any commission from your royalties. Instead, you pay a small annual fee to cover our pesky little expenses like website maintenance, transaction fees, money transfer fees, etc.

We hope that by encouraging clients to (at least) break even on the annual renewal fee each year, it will also encourage them to continue marketing their audiobooks, even as they age. We see so many people lose marketing motivation once a new release is no longer new. 😢

What's the catch?

There's really not one. By cutting out the traditional distribution platforms and retail sites, you're maximizing your potential earnings. And listeners will love it, because you'll be able to deeply discount your audiobook and still make more from the sale than you would on a full price audiobook from a large retail site.
